Micro-Blog 24

I converted from RealPlayer to iTunes so I could use Last.fm. Just figured I'd make a note of that. It'll take me a few days to get used to iTunes but it'll be much easier for all my friends to run my music collection during shindigs. Feel a little like I've sold out, but I can't say to what. I guess a hipster would say something like "Man, iTunes is so mainstream. Even looking at it is fin." :P

That Went Well

Drunktoberfest came. Drunktoberfest went. Drunktoberfest was pretty damn sweet.

I accomplished everything but stealing some music from Stevo. Didn't drink too much. Didn't do anything real stupid. I did talk too much, but I'm not worried about Nikki talking and I know precisely what I said anyway. I guess Meagan was in the back of the car while I was talking too much but she was out of it and not paying attention. On that note, I guess I didn't accomplish exactly everything I was after, but I'm never gonna get to that one so it doesn't much matter. It apparently went well because I remember Sarah telling me at least twice that the four of us should make an effort to attend future Thunderdome parties. Works for me.
Around 3 we took off. Last night was the first time I've ridden in my car. I still haven't been in the back seat riding or otherwise.

Had to clean out my hard drive to make Meagan's mix CD, so what's on there now is 876 songs of pure awesomeness. No Dandy Warhols, unfortunately. I do have everything MSI has ever put out on it, though.

Not much of a story to tell, but what'd you expect?

Tonight we dine in Hell!

Er, Louisville. And we aren't really dining.

DRUNKTOBERFEST

Shit I have to do before Drunktoberfest: Shit that's done gets an asterisk.
*Toss some shit in the car.
*Move some other shit from the cab to the trunk.
*Lose some empty pop cans.
*Shower, maybe? For once I don't smell like rank sweat.
*Put in the 14-gage ring.
*Make 2 gallons of super-fresh, monstrously wonderful sweet tea.
*Put on some sweet tunes.
*Move all new music to portable hard drive.

I might also use my computer to turn some loose files into a mix CD if Meagan contacts me about it. Hers seems to lack the ability.

Preschool Mumblings

I've gotten rather little sleep recently for a few good reasons. They all involve me hanging out with people until weird hours of the early morning.

The plan was to play some 40K tonight, but one Joe is out and if the other isn't available I'll just deliver the bad news to Brandon and sleep after school rather than wargame.

I won't actually have to deliver any news. It'll be read here before I talk to Joseph. Need to get plenty of sleep so I don't pass out on the road tomorrow and kill us. :)

Drunktoberfest tomorrow!

Boats and Quotes

Went to the USS Nightmare with Crystal last night. It was pretty sweet. I need to get one of those big spinning tunnel things for my house. I think I'm gonna end up there again with Sarah next Wednesday. It was a little creepy and I may have been shocked once or twice by some sneaky people, but I just don't get into stuff like that like some people do. I still had fun, though. I guess that's why I'm going again. :-D

I think I need to win the lottery. Then I'd buy Jillian's and live there. Watch the Big Lebowski in my bowling alley, host 40K tourneys in the game room. It'd be pretty sweet shit.

Acoustic Brew tonight. So far as I can tell I'll be there alone. Whatever. Happens weekly.

I'm in the process of gaging my ear up from the 18 it's at now to 14 so I can put the smaller ring I got from Nikki in. Then I'm gonna stick the larger-diameter 16-gage in next to it.

I read the blogs; I couldn't resist...
(14:51:26) Cameron Hodge: Hahahaha
(14:51:41) Cameron Hodge: I can't check the blogs with a straight face.
(14:52:29) Cameron Hodge: Were you possessed by the ghost of a dead pre-teen mall emo when you wrote that?
(14:52:39) Brandon Stephens: go
(14:52:40) Brandon Stephens: fuck
(14:52:41) Brandon Stephens: yourself
(14:52:53) Cameron Hodge: Nah. I don't want to get the keyboard all sticky.
Also, the new MySpace profile song is exceptionally happy.

The Final Countdown?

As of now, it's three days to Drunktoberfest. I've got three passengers who are ready to go, two fifths of gutrot... All I need to do is make a gallon of my infamous sweet tea. I might even make a second gallon just for the drive down.

Had Jimmy over. We played some 40K. I barely beat him in the first game and he defeated me in a game with real objectives. For someone with only WFB experience the man plays astoundingly well. He's also an incredibly nice guy. I can't wait to see him DM.

As I told people, the fire ban is up and there may be a shindig Sunday. Don't count on it. I'll probably be way tired from Drunktoberfest. I'm just saying there's a slight chance. I'm gonna cover the wood tomorrow and hope it'll dry out.

Because I need excuses to be happy...

So the last lab I fucked up, the one that led to some interesting burn scars, was thin layer chromatography. I had to repeat part of the TLC experiment today when doing column chromatography. It went off with out a hitch. All samples turned up pure and high-yield. I'm really happy. I got it done super fast, too. I think I was first out of the lab today.

Everyone else is hating the rain. Meagan is really hating the rain. Me? I think it's a nice change from 95 and humid. Plus, the fire ban won't survive if it keeps on like this.

The fire ban has been lifted, too. God damn is this a good day!

I'm in a damn good mood and I have four more days until an epic party in the 'Ville. w00t!

Complimentary Angles

I got compliment comments? Woah. The one of note:
I totally thought you where an asshole at first
ha now i know your just kinda an asshole.
but an awesome friend <3
That seems to be an opinion shared by all of you. Just thought it was funny. "At first I thought you were an asshole. Now, uh... you're still an asshole, but you're a pretty cool dude." I hear it from all of you and I'm happy with it. I'm a serious douchebag but I have enough endearing qualities to keep myself in your various crews. Then again, that same asshole streak kept me popular in high school. If my enemy's enemy is my friend, everybody's enemy is everybody's friend.

Tried to play some 40K tonight. Failed spectacularly. I can always wait for tomorrow. I should convince some of you to play. Most of you have expressed interest in D&D, but we have to get more than two people together for that and it takes much more planning so it's comparatively rare.

As usual, I've got three empty seats and I'm going to Acoustic Brew Thursday. It led to a good story last time. I'll update you on the musician ASAP.

5 days and counting! I still lack djus, but if 40K works tomorrow I'll return from Bellevue with shit in my trunk.

Micro-Blog 23

I look back as I fall asleep and realize that three tiny moments have changed my life for the better more than anything else I did in 2006.

One game of Uno
Sharing a bus seat with a strange girl
Typing "Nikki Greis" into the Facebook search box

Those three have led to more friends and more good times than an entire year of thought and action.

Funny how that works sometimes.
