That's Cool...

"...but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences." - Mark 3:29

Apostasy is unforgivable. That's pretty sweet. This means that anyone who has at any time declared himself atheist is permanently excommunicated. The Christians can't take us back. I'm happy about this. Now all I have to do is quote scripture to anyone who tries to convert me. It happens often enough so that I'll benefit from knowing this.

Any sin, however, may be forgiven by god. And the truly repentant may be forgiven of any sin, including apostasy, on judgement day.

Also, man may not say what is or is not forgiveable. Further...

And Jesus said, Father, let them have forgiveness, for they have no knowledge of what they are doing. And they made division of his clothing among them by the decision of chance (ala, any sin made in ignorance may be forgiven. If you commit apostasy based on a lack of evidence (or a lack of lack of evidenc) it may be forgiven. This means that apostasy is only unforgiveable if one has felt the holy spirit).

"o Him all the Prophets bear witness, and testify that through His name all who believe in Him receive the forgiveness of their sins." (If you turn back to the religion, apostasy is indeed forgiveable)

The bible is to contradictory to be used as evidence for or against anything!

:D

Apostasy the willing renunciation of your faith. It is therefore impossible to do unknowingly or unwillingly, as regardless of what you say or are forced to say it takes place in the deepest reaches of your mind.

Also, the simple fact that it is contradictory isn't relevant. I can quote this passage at missionaries, declare myself beyond saving, and send them off. I can also use it to bring agnostics to my side, offering them permanent damnation as a motivation to stay against Christianity and it's sickly warping influence.

saying you don't know isn't outright apostasy in this context. Fat out denial of god is the only true apostasy (unless, of course, you're talking to a catholic)
