Top Gear

I think I'm gonna make the best driving mix CD ever, but I don't have the songs. This is where I ask for your opinion! Songs I currently own are starred.

Stuff that I'm gonna put on it:
*Rush - "Red Barchetta"
The Allman Brothers Band - "Jessica"
*Ben Folds - "Jesusland"
Badly Drawn Boy - "Once Around the Block"
*Sufjan Stevens - "Chicago"
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - "Blinded by the Light"
*Grateful Dead - "Truckin'"
Foghat - "Slow Ride"
Creedence Clearwater Revival - "Fortunate Son"
*Jackson Browne - "Running on Empty"
*Eagles - "Take it Easy"
What else do I need? Not Sammy Hagar. I can drive 55; I just choose not to.

Well "Cars", either the original or one of the many covers are always good. A Techno/House/Electronica mix, something really happy and upbeat could help out too!

Plus anything everyone knows all the words to.

"The Impression That I Get" is a good one
Honestly, I have taken a liking to anything Journey while driving.

I picked most of them because they have a rolling, rambling feel to them that's reminiscent of the road itself. Gary Numan's "Cars" is a good one, though.

I also am taking into account the mood music puts people in. Calm is best for these driving mixes. Every time I drive to Slipknot or Rise Against, for example, I hit triple digits. Many of the best driving songs come from eras where the calm, laid-back mood I'm after was prevalent, like the seventies. "Jessica" might be the single best example of this.

you need "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" by the first editions.

if you've seen the big lebowski you should know it.
